In this compelling political thriller, former covert NSA operative and current Louisiana Governor Chip Majors (James DuMont) is front in line to be North Carolina Senator Edmonds (Steven Bauer) Vice Presidential nominee. Majors finds his political aspirations threatened when a group lead by a man named Graham (Billy Zane) tries to assassinate him before he is chosen. While at a campaign party, Majors is forced to murder a prostitute hired by the gang to kill him. He offers a bribe to his security guards, Devon and Cobbs (Griffin Hood), to keep the murder a secret, lest it ruin his bid for the White House and his marriage. Cobbs goes to his former girlfriend Gloria (Robin Givens), a CIA agent, and discovers the cracks behind the Governors seemingly perfect faade, from his questionable military background to his frequent extra-marital affairs. Burdened with the murder and terrorised by the secrets of his past, Majors finds himself fighting not only for his political career but also his life.
